About Meggie Allen
Licensed Parelli Professional™ 2 Star Junior Instructor
Meggie has always loved horses and grew up riding recreationally, camping and trail riding. After many troubling experiences with horses, Meggie knew there had to be a better way to handle horses. She went to see the Parellis at a tour stop in Michigan, and after seeing what Pat and Linda Parelli could do with horses Meggie was hooked. She spent the next year taking clinics with 5* Instructor Carol Coppinger, and studying at home with her first partner, Jack.
After passing her Level 1, Meggie decided it was time for more information. In the summer of 2006, she signed up for 4 weeks of courses at the Parelli™ Center in Colorado. She spent 4 weeks in the mountains learning and growing, and realized she couldn’t leave, and stayed for another 2 weeks.
For the next two years, Meggie continued her horsemanship journey, while finishing her education at The University of Michigan. After graduating from college with a BA, Meggie decided she wanted to pursue her career in the horse world. She found a Therapeutic Riding Center that used Parelli™ Principles, and applied to be an instructor. For the next year, Meggie spent her time teaching both handicapped and able-bodied horsemanship lessons. She also had the time to play with the 14 very special horses that make everything possible at the TR Center.
Realizing that teaching horsemanship was her passion, Meggie spent 6 more weeks taking courses in Florida in the fall of 2008. She left Florida with another Partner, Hank, who helped her progress through Level 3. In the summer of 2009, Meggie applied to the Extern Program at the Florida Parelli™ Center. She was accepted and expected to start September of 2009. Meggie then spent 12 weeks down in Florida expanding her abilities in horse development, administration, teaching, and facility design and maintenance. She left Florida in December of 2009 to return home prepared to help horses and humans become better partners back home in Michigan.
Meggie is very excited to be a Parelli Professional™ in Mid-Michigan. She is looking forward to the opportunities and experiences of being a Licensed Parelli Professional™, and dedicated to being Positive, Progressive and Natural and helping her students to do so too.
